Personality
What is your character most afraid of? How are they defined by this fear? (100-300 words)
Wolfwood's greatest fear is failure, which manifests in a variety of ways. Fear of death (before he can accomplish his goals), fear of other kids suffering the same fate as him, fear of letting people down when they find out the truth of what he's become. Fear is, in fact, a very defining trait for him - one of the themes of the manga is the damage fear does and why it's both difficult and necessary to overcome it. Fear isn't the only factor that makes Wolfwood keep people at arm's length (guilt over his work as an assassin is at least as important), but it's definitely there. It also makes him more inclined to take extreme measures: someone can't derail your mission if they're dead. What Wolfwood wants most of all is to accomplish something with his life. The idea of failing at that is terrifying.
What is your character's greatest desire? How are they defined by this desire? (100-300 words)
Wolfwood wants to make the world a better place. This sounds grand, and it is grand, in that due to Knives existing that means saving the world too. But it's also a more targeted, personal thing. He wants the next generation to have things better, and never end up like him. He wants the other kids from the orphanage to be safe. For most of the series, he takes an "ends justify the means" approach to this, but that's shown to be a result of his trauma from the Eye of Michael rather than a natural tendency. In the end, he manages to overcome that and return to the more idealistic approach he seems to have had as a kid. Just doing good and protecting others is its own reward, because that's what's really at the heart of changing the world for the better.
How will not having memories change your character? What core personality traits, if any, will change? How? (200-300 words)
Having no memory of most of his defining life events is going to be huge for Wolfwood. Without the guilt and fears that hang over him constantly due to his experiences with the Eye of Michael and the Gung-ho Guns, he will be significantly more optimistic, ready to jump in and help, and open to making real connections with others. He is still going to be somewhat rude, grumpy and argumentative - that's just built in (we see it during the happiest period of his life, at the orphanage). But he'll find it easier to also offer support through non-gun-related means, and inclined to believe that simply reaching out to others is the best way to solve problems. He will also feel much more positive about himself. Wolfwood carries a lot of self-hatred over what he's done; being relieved of those memories will also relieve him of that and allow him to be honest and faster to make friends. Instead of insisting on being a lone wolf (pun intended), he'll be more community-oriented and interested in working alongside others. Wolfwood has some natural cynicism (or at least, cynicism that dates back to his life before the orphanage), but we see throughout the series that he wants to have hope and optimism as well, even while he vehemently argues that that's stupid and ineffective. His arguments against idealism have some weight, but that weight is granted by his specific experiences with some of the worst people around, who genuinely cut off any way for him to get out except by shooting through it, and at a formative age. Without that weight, the idealism he wishes for will be something he can reach fairly easily, not something he can only win back through begrudging friendship and gallons of blood loss.
Memories
You have 10 memory points. How will you use them?
Type of regain: Skill 3 points.
Marksmanship, including how to use a wide variety of firearms that don't exist in this town.
Type of regain: Skill 2 points.
Hand-to-hand combat.
Type of regain: Minor Memory 1 point.
His routine as one of the older kids in the orphanage - chores, looking after younger kids, helping out with animals, etc.
Type of regain: Skill 2 points.
How to be a priest. This will be patchy (he'll likely think this is because of the amnesia, but in fact reflects that he was never actually trained), but include some specific knowledge: how to hold a funeral service, apparently random bits of scripture, most of how to hold a regular service.
Type of regain: Relationship Trappings 2 points.
Vash the Stampede. Wolfwood will know Vash was a travel companion, that they often bickered, and that in spite of that they were close friends, but none of the actual events they went through or how and why they met in the first place.
